Van Jochanan heb ik wat nieuws over Daslight doorgekregen.
Allereerst de nieuwe interface, welke de DVC-2 GOLD ZM* gaat heten. Deze zal de normale DVC-2 GOLD gaan vervangen in het najaar van 2009.
Daslight claimt dat er veel verbeteringen zijn toegevoegd zoals nieuwe technologie zodat deze interfaces nog betere prestaties kunnen neerzetten.
Daslight zegt tevens dat het zich ook wil gaan richten op architecturele toepassingen, dus stand-alone gebruik. Dit moet kunnen door de nu aanwezige mogelijkheid om SD-kaartjes te gebruiken, waar complete shows op kunnen worden gezet.
Daslight geeft de volgende specificaties voor de nieuwe interface:
- 2 x 512 DMX channels out or 1024 channels now available in Stand-Alone (without PC).
- The PC board includes a Mini SD card memory -- the size of your show won't be a problem anymore.
- It is possible to trigger 5 scene together (5 different Zones) in Stand-Alone mode (without PC).
- More Time-Triggers are included.
- 64-bit Windows Operating System Compatibility.
Deze interface zal volgens Daslight ongeveer rond de 550 euro gaan kosten en zal in juni leverbaar zijn met een Beta-versie van de DVC-2.

Daslight introduceert nieuwe 32- en 64-bit drivers voor Windows Vista. Deze is toe te passen voor de DVC-2 Eco 512 dongle en de DVC-128M. Daslight waarschuwt wel dat alleen DVC-2 compatibel is met een 64-bits systeem, DVC-1 kan alleen werken met een 32-bits systeem.
Belangrijke informatie welke Daslight meegeeft:
- The new driver only works with 64-bits for DVC2 ECO, DVC2 128-M, and the next generation DasLight interfaces.
- All other USB interfaces previously supplied by DasLight do not use the new 64-bit drivers. They only work under the 32-bit mode with the current 32-bit drivers.
- To be compatible with 64-bits, systems without any problems must use the Beta, or newer (as of March 2009), version of the DVC2 software. The new divers need to be manually installed.
- The Beta version is available from www.daslight.com and offers a choice to install either the 32-bit (old) or 64-bit (new) drivers.
- These new drivers are not compatible with older versions of the DVC2 software (versions earlier than March 2009)
- The DVC1 software (first generation) is not compatible with 64-bit operating systems, so you must use the 32-bit driver in this case.
